About IDA

Individual Differences Association (IDA) is an interdisciplinary,  non-profit scientific organization devoted to promoting the scholarly study of  individual differences. Our goals are: 1) to promote the scientific study of  individual differences, 2) provide a forum for scholars interested in individual  differences to share ideas and knowledge, and 3) providing educational and  research information about individual differences to the general public. Our  primary activity, however, is the dissemination of individual differences  research by publishing a scholarly peer-reviewed journal.

The study of individual differences in psychology has a long and varied history abounding with theoretical traditions. Unfortunately, the status of individual differences research over several decades diminished as psychology emphasized experimentation and behaviorism. Now, however, personality and individual differences are again gaining the attention of  scholars who  understand its importance in understanding individuals across a variety of  contexts.

IDA was initially established in 2002 as Individual Differences Research Group, an unincorporated, closed-society with the primary goal of disseminating research on individual differences. The organization has widened its interests and been re-formed as IDA, a scientific and non-profit organization registered in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (USA). IDA is open to all professionals who support our mission to further the study of individual differences.
